When Castelli created the first aero jersey for road racing in 2006, everyone thought they were crazy. Back then, aero was only used in triathlon. At that time, professional clothing meant only moisture management. But you can win the Tour de France in a jersey that's little more than a polyester T-shirt. Since Castelli's aerodynamic consultants anticipated small gains in speed, they named their jersey "Split Second". Still, they said it was worth continuing. In the end, the profits were quite substantial, and so they started a revolution in the clothing of the pro peloton.
This is now the sixth major revision of this jersey. Each generation became more airy and brought a better cut. The Aero Race 6.0 benefited significantly from CFD aero analysis regarding the placement of fabrics and seams in the riding position. The riders from the ProTour team also provide useful feedback, as they worked in Castelli to ensure that the jersey was comfortable throughout training and during the race in all possible weather. Version 6.0 is their most aero and most comfortable jersey yet. But they are already working on version 6.1...
